JE Dunn recently worked on a renovation package to the Baker Block, which includes the Baker Building, Roanoke Building, Investor Building, and US Trust Building. These occupied renovations include 1st & 2nd floor corridor renovation, 9th floor demolition, 13th floor renovation, which will add an amenity floor for tenants including conferencing area and fitness center, rooftop patio at 13th floor, and partial exterior reskinning.
The centerpiece of the renovation is a new main entrance on Marquette Avenue and Eighth Street, across from IDS Center. Retail tenants were moved from that corner to open up the area with a two-level lobby, complete with a 60-foot-long video board that displays artwork. The entire corner, all the way up to the top floors of the buildings, has been opened up with curtain wall windows to allow more light. In total, crews added 16,000 square feet of new window area. Previously, the building had no clear main entrance and it was difficult to find a link between the skyway and street level. The main level got new interiors, tile and furniture. The office spaces have been given a more industrial look with polished concrete floors and exposed mechanicals in the ceilings.
